Beyond Type 2 Celebrates Five Years

This January, the global diabetes nonprofit Beyond Type 1 celebrates the five-year anniversary of its Beyond Type 2 platform, which serves millions of people worldwide in five different languages. The platform provides an online community for people to share their stories, get connected to the community and find resources on daily management, mental health and more. 

Since its launch in 2019, Beyond Type 2 has offered online and social media resources in both English and Spanish, with unique content tailored to each audience. Among opportunities offered, the Beyond Type 2 Community is a closed social network supported for people with type 2 diabetes to connect and participate in monthly virtual meetups.

In 2022, Beyond Type 2 expanded its platform to include new resources in German, French, and Italian. Last year, Beyond Type 1 announced Beyond Type 2’s expansion of resources into Canada with the launch of a new website and local community organized through Beyond Type 2’s platform, thanks to the support of Lilly Canada as a founding partner. Today, Canadians living with type 2 diabetes can engage on the new website and find localized resources in Canadian French and English languages.

At the end of 2023, Beyond Type 2 hosted its first Virtual Wellness Summit, a two-day event in English and Spanish. The event featured speakers living with type 2 diabetes and healthcare providers, who discussed topics such as nutrition, mental health and wellbeing, medications, technology, and exercise. 

Beyond Type 2 aims to support everyone impacted by type 2 diabetes, encouraging a community that thrives despite the challenges of their diagnosis. The nonprofit is grateful for the shared vision and support of Founding Partners Abbott (FreeStyle Libre 3 Systems), the Association of Diabetes Care & Education Specialists (ADCES), Lilly, Tempo® Personalized Diabetes Management Platform, and Roche Diabetes Care (Accu-Chek®). 

Living with type 2 diabetes is a journey that requires courage and resilience to thrive. Beyond Type 2 remains committed to supporting those who are navigating this path, alongside partners in the diabetes community and empowering individuals by providing the best—and most accessible—resources.
