Christine Kanderski serves as Chair of the Leadership Council’s Diversity Committee. This Cleveland-based Kanderski family has been active in the Diabetes Community since their oldest son, Ethan, was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes in February 2014. Since then, Christine, Keith, Ethan, and Drew have held numerous community fundraisers, engage with newly diagnosed families in the community, helped lead local support groups for families, and work hard to help spread further education about Diabetes. Through Beyond Type 1, Ethan, also a BT1 Ambassador, joined nine other incredible Type 1 children to join Nick Jonas on stage at the Radio Disney Music Awards in April 2017 to accept the Hero Award for his philanthropic work. That following June, the family hosted a relaxing pre-event dinner, with help from our favorite family, the Dooleys (#TeamOhio), for the Bike Beyond riders at their home, which included a surprise visit from Sarah Lucas and Thom Scher that evening! Working together with their wonderful family, along with their incredibly supportive friends, their efforts have helped spread more education and information about Diabetes to their local community.
