Marla is a passionate T1D advocate and awareness builder ever since her two sons were diagnosed as small children (ages 3 and 9 months). Over the past 26 years, she and her husband Robert invested and helped nurture companies and organizations centred around improving the lives of those living with diabetes. Marla has worked on many diabetes related projects which include establishing the first Pediatric Insulin Pump Center in Montreal, hosted JDRF parent meet ups for newly diagnosed families and was one of the first JDRF Walk Chair’s to help create/establish family teams. Currently, she is an active member of the Beyond Type 1 Leadership Council and is an Executive Producer of the soon to be released documentary, “The Human Trial”.
